Title: With the Wood in Spring

Group: Shunyata Improvisation Group (John Garner- violin, Mark Carroll- cello, trubba not –acoustic Guitar, NofC-voice, melodeon, percussion)

A shimmering woodland improvisations by the reformed Shunyata Improvisation Group at their first face to face meeting in May 2021 responding and working with the natural sounds of the wood. There is an ease of playing throughout representing the naturalness of the group’s Zen aesthetic. Thanks to Jamie Cook of Howzat TV for the production of the outdoor recording and especially for the bird song and ambient sounds of the woodland.

This is a complete improvisation session which will also form part of the source material for the group’s project Pivot Moments 2 in collaboration with Posset and the Durham mental health charity RT Projects, due for release by the TQN-aut label in the winter of 2021.
