What a great surprise to all of a sudden have a new Farben set to listen to. I absolutely adore this era of Jan Jelinek's work and this set is no exception.
Jan Jelinek came over from Berlin for a free entry afternoon set of minimal house/techno at the Telegraph pub in Newcastle (long ago, pre re-furb, when it was a great pub). Presented by Twin Bleeps, the then collaboration of Ben Ponton and Lee Etherington. Some help from Jason Etherington to get in touch with Jan and make arrangements.
If I remember rightly, we put it on in the afternoon because Squarepusher was down the road later on trying to play free jazz with Mick Beck.
All proceeds to Newcastle East Food Bank.

Who would have imagined Federico Durand as an appearance here (Third Dream)? The collaboration is enchanting.
Federico has a way with abstract but deceptively simple, nearly melodic single note patterns. That combined with Stephan’s multilayered drones…it just works at every level. Richard Erickson
